Marple North
Councillor Micheala Meikle
Micheala was born and brought up locally. She attended Banks Lane and St John’s Primary Schools, followed by Offerton High and Aquinas College. Together with her partner Steve and their two children Amaya and Lucca, Micheala spends a lot of their free time in our parks and green areas. She has been campaigning for a sustainable future of our green spaces, and wants to protect the heritage of our area.
Councillor Geoff Abell
What gets Geoff going is a desire to help others. His family grew up here, and he was a councillor previously here in Marple up to 2018. After getting re-elected in May, he now wants to improve things for local people and build on our sense of community, creating places where local people can afford to live, whilst protecting green spaces. Geoff's interests lie in transport (he helped to save the 394 bus service to Stepping Hill), safe walking and cycling routes, and improving our health and social services. During his spare time Geoff likes quizzing and making music.
Councillor Steve Gribbon
Steve has lived in Marple for over 20 years, raising his family in the town whilst working as a Fire Officer. He has seen first hand just how community-minded our neighbourhoods are. One of his favourite things about being a Councillor is working in partnership with residents to make our community even better. He wants to continue protecting our green spaces and making our roads safer by reducing speeding and introducing more pedestrian crossings. This particularly applies around our local schools, so we can make it easier for young people to walk to school - boosting their physical and mental health. In his spare time Steve enjoys spending quality time with his family, skiing and watching American football.
Councillor Becky Senior
Becky lives in Mill Brow with her husband, sons and family dog. She has been a Lib Dem councillor since May 2019 and loved every minute of it - representing Marple North residents and advocating for their priorities that make the biggest and most positive impact for our communities. She loves the balance of green space, open countryside and proximity to Stockport and Manchester. Becky wants to protect the balance of living here and coming here as a visitor - making Marple the best place to live for residents and celebrating what a fantastic community it is.
