Local councillors with the fire crew from Offerton

Fire service cuts: campaign win

With your help, we have successfully won the campaign against cuts to night cover at Offerton fire station.

The Labour-run Greater Manchester-wide combined authority was planning to remove full time firefighters from Offerton fire station overnight.  Local residents would either have to wait for ‘on call’ firefighters, or for a fire engine from elsewhere in an emergency.

Parliamentary candidate Lisa Smart says, “This is fantastic news from the combined authority , and it is thanks to all the local people who signed petitions, and who made objections, that we have won the campaign to keep night and weekend cover at Offerton fire station. Thank you all."
