Lib Dem-run Stockport Council agrees deal for 54 new EV charging stations

Electric vehicle charging network Be.EV and Lib Dem-run Stockport Council have agreed on delivery of 54 rapid and ultra rapid charging stations across Stockport that will allow 100 electric vehicles to be charged at the same time.

Delivering on their commitment to cleaner air, throuhgh their work with Stockport council the local Liberal Democrats have ensured that charging stations will be accessible  across the community.

The installation work will take just two weeks and the sites are expected to be operational by the end of the year. The work will also take into account the need for further expansion depending on usage.

Lib Dem Cllr Mark Roberts, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment, said: “I am so pleased that this partnership will be delivering for residents really soon. This work helps us as a council to future-proof our borough and the needs of our local people.

“The local Liberal Democrats are commited to take actions on climate change, and we're excited about enabling this vital step in the Council's journey to be carbon neutral by 2038."
